You Said, We Did: Speed checks in Netherton and West Town

Dear Resident,

At our community meeting held at Longthorpe Village Hall earlier this month, concerns about anti-social driving and speeding across the area were raised.

In response to this, we have been carrying out speed checks in Atherstone Avenue, Netherton, and Westwood Park Road, West Town. Multiple drivers were stopped and spoken to about the issue and the dangers of speeding as they were close to the limit.

During these, we also seized an e-scooter that was ridden past us! The rider admitted to knowing it was illegal, and the scooter was found to reach speeds of almost 30mph.

In addition to these speed checks, we have also joined the Speedwatch team that operate in the area, identifying various driving offences and talking to drivers.

These are just a couple of the ways we have been addressing these issues and will continue carrying out checks when we can.
